The Learning Tree is an environment designed to fulfill the needs of the preschool child. This is a place where children are given time, space, and guidance to grow socially, emotionally, and intellectually. The following quote, written by one of our parents, reflects our philosophy. "I am glad to see that the work my child brings home reveals his own creativity. It shows that he is participating in hands-on learning and is free to express his own individuality."
We have been individually owned and operated since 1977 and are fully licensed by the State of New Jersey. Children are actively engaged throughout their day and spend their time working with materials and other children, as well as learning through play.
Many learning tools are openly available to children including building blocks, construction materials, props for pretend play, picture books, art materials, and table toys such as matching games, pegboards, and puzzles. Children have an opportunity to play outside every day, weather permitting.
We vary our instruction and interactions with our students. We work with individual children, small groups, and whole groups at different times during the day. Our teachers differentiate instruction and make adaptations for children who are advanced as well as children who need additional support. Teachers recognize that children's different backgrounds and experiences mean they do not learn the same things at the same time in the same way.
Children and parents look forward to school. Parents feel secure about sending their child to our programs. Children are happy to attend.
We offer many enrollment options including 2, 3, 4, or 5 half days and/or 2, 3, 4, or 5 full days, or other weekly combinations. We also offer extended hours by special arrangement. (See "Flexible Days & Hours" below)
"Caterpillar" class typically has
7 to 10 children with 1 teacher and 1 or 2 teaching assistants.
"Butterfly" & "Ladybug" classes typically have a maximum of 10 children with 1 teacher and 1 teaching assistant.

Although we offer regularly scheduled classes, we are flexible and can accommodate individual family's needs for certain days and times which may be different than what we typically advertise. We offer part-time options in addition to full-time options. We also offer early drop-off and late pick-up, in an effort to help working parents.

Our "lunch bunch" is 12:00 to 1:00 PM.
Our regular afternoon session runs 12:45 PM to 4:00 PM.
Early drop off and late pick up arrangements are made as needed on an individual basis.
